Elections
As I think back on what the country went through this past year, all the political ads, debates, town halls, etc., I really wish the politicans (both parties) would have said exactly how they are going to fullfill their promises. He said "I'm going to create 200,000 new jobs for Iowa" (our new govenor) How can YOU create 200,000 new jobs? "I'm going to reduce taxes" (everyone) HOW? When Clinton was President he said "this bill will add 100,000 new police to our communities". HOW??? His bill was then passed and the bill was funded. 37,000 new police were added (not 100,000). 3 years later, after the funds ran out and the communities had to fund the new police themselves, many of the police were laid off. Most of the communities couldn't afford more police and didn't need them. Politicans tend to grossly exaggerate and even lie to win votes. So much for 100,000 new police to protect our communities. One of the big issues in the Braley vs. Lange contest was Braley accused Lange of supporting "laying off teachers and hurting our children" because Lange was against the 87 billion dollar emergency bill that Pelosi pushed through in an emergency session. Every Republican was against it. She said it was needed to "Save our teachers, police, and firemen" (read unions) The problem was those were the words President Obama used to push through the stimulus in early 2009...."we need to save the jobs of our teachers, firemen and Police". Keep track on how many times you hear those scare tactics. Those are the buzz words that the Democrats use to get their votes....."save the teachers/children, firemen and police"....WHO can vote agaist them? If the teachers, firemen and police had recieved all the money the Democrats had promised, they would be the highest paid employees in America. You would think that the teachers, firemen and Police would be upset that the Democrats use them as "Poster Children" yet they keep recieving peanuts. Evidently approx. 900 billion dollars, for the stimulus, wasn't enough to "save the teachers, etc". By the way, 100 billion dollars in the stimulus, still hasn't been spent. The Republicans suggested that 100 billion be used, instead of adding another 87 billion to the deficient. Of course Pelosi wouldn't have anything to do with that and the Demoncrats rammed the 87 billion thru. If you ever have a chance to respond to a politican directly, ask for specifics not retoric. If they can't or won't answer you, don't vote for them. We need to hold our elected leaders accountable to their champagin promises. Just look at all the promises that Obama made during his champaign. People voted for him because of those promises. How many promises has he already broken and he hasn't been in office for even 2 years? I feel sorry for those who were duped and believed him.
